A Dog, to whom the butcher had thrown a bone, was hurrying home with his prize as fast as he could go.
Um Cão, a quem o açougueiro havia jogado um osso, corria para casa com seu prêmio o mais rápido que podia.
As he crossed a narrow bridge, he looked down and saw himself reflected in the quiet water below. Thinking it was another dog with another bone, he made up his mind to have that one also.
Ao atravessar uma ponte estreita, ele olhou para baixo e viu seu próprio reflexo na água tranquila. Pensando que era outro cão com outro osso, decidiu que também queria aquele.
So he snapped greedily at the reflection. But as he opened his mouth, his own bone fell out, dropped into the water, and was never seen again.
Então ele abocanhou o reflexo com ganância. Mas, ao abrir a boca, seu próprio osso caiu, afundou na água e nunca mais foi visto.
It is very foolish to be greedy.
