The Lion and the Mouse

A mouse begs a sleeping lion to spare her life and promises to repay his mercy one day — then gets an unexpected chance to prove it.
A Lion was asleep in the forest, his great head resting on his paws.
शेर जंगल में सो रहा था, उसका विशाल सिर उसके पंजों पर टिका हुआ था।
A timid little Mouse came upon him unexpectedly, and in her fright and haste to get away, ran across the Lion's nose. Roused from his nap, the Lion laid his huge paw angrily on the tiny creature to kill her.
एक डरपोक छोटी चुहिया अचानक उसके पास आ पहुँची, और डर के मारे भागने की जल्दी में उसकी नाक के ऊपर से दौड़ गई। नींद से जागकर शेर ने गुस्से में अपना विशाल पंजा उस नन्ही जीव पर रख दिया, उसे मार डालने के लिए।
"Spare me!" begged the poor Mouse. "Please let me go, and some day I will surely repay you."
"मुझे बख्श दीजिए!" बेचारी चुहिया ने विनती की। "कृपया मुझे जाने दीजिए, और किसी दिन मैं ज़रूर आपका एहसान चुकाऊँगी।"
The Lion was much amused to think that a Mouse could ever help him. But he was generous, and finally he let the Mouse go.
शेर को यह सोचकर बहुत हँसी आई कि कोई चुहिया कभी उसकी मदद कर सकती है। पर वह उदार था, और अंततः उसने चुहिया को जाने दिया।
Some days later, while stalking his prey in the forest, the Lion was caught in the net of a hunter. Unable to free himself, he filled the forest with his angry roaring.
कुछ दिनों बाद, जंगल में अपने शिकार का पीछा करते समय, शेर एक शिकारी के जाल में फँस गया। खुद को छुड़ा पाने में असमर्थ, उसने अपनी गुस्से भरी दहाड़ों से पूरे जंगल को गुंजा दिया।
The Mouse knew the voice, and quickly she found the Lion struggling in the net. Running to one of the great ropes that bound him, she gnawed it until it parted, and soon the Lion was free.
चुहिया ने उसकी आवाज़ पहचान ली, और जल्दी ही उसने शेर को जाल में तड़पते हुए पा लिया। उसे बाँधने वाली एक बड़ी रस्सी की ओर दौड़ते हुए, उसने उसे तब तक कुतरा जब तक वह टूट न गई, और जल्द ही शेर आज़ाद हो गया।
"You laughed when I said I would repay you," said the Mouse. "Now you see that even a little Mouse can help a great Lion."
"जब मैंने कहा था कि मैं आपका एहसान चुकाऊँगी, तब आप हँसे थे," चुहिया ने कहा। "अब आप देख रहे हैं कि एक छोटी चुहिया भी एक महान शेर की मदद कर सकती है।"
