Sofia has a big math test next week. Two study groups meet before the test. She must choose one group to join.
The first group meets in the school library. Kevin runs this group every Tuesday. They work quietly and check answers together.
The second group meets at a classmate's house. This group is bigger, with music and snacks. Everyone talks and laughs while they study.
Sofia likes quiet places when she studies alone. But she also likes to laugh and relax. She does not know which group fits her better.
She asks Kevin about his group. "We focus on hard problems," he says. "It's quiet, but we get a lot done."
She asks a friend about the other group. "It's more fun, but sometimes people talk too much," the friend says.
Sofia thinks about the test. She thinks about how nervous math makes her feel. She decides quiet focus matters more this time.
On Tuesday, Sofia walks into the library. Kevin waves and points to an empty chair beside him.
She sits down and opens her math book. She feels ready for the test.
