Youssef spent Saturday cleaning out his attic. Many boxes sat there for years. He wanted to make more space upstairs.
Dust covered almost every surface. Old spider webs hung in the corners. He opened a window for fresh air.
He opened box after box of old items. Most boxes held old clothes and papers. He put many things into a donation pile.
Near the back, he found a small wooden box. He did not remember packing it. He opened the lid slowly and carefully.
Inside, he found old photos and a letter. The photos showed his parents as young adults. The letter was from his father, years ago.
Youssef sat down on a dusty box. He read the letter twice, slowly. It talked about his father's plans for the family.
The words felt warm and personal. Youssef looked at the old photos again. His parents looked so young and happy.
Youssef carefully put the photos back inside. He decided to keep this box forever. He carried it downstairs with great care.
